Description

This would be icing on the cake.

There are a variety of open source projects with this support available.

As far as I know, the only open-source decoders for Real Media are for RV10 and RV20 (not RV30 or RV40 which I think are used more today.) The Helix project only has non-redistributable binaries for Real Video decoders, and requiring a separate, more complex installation like ffmpegX doesn't sound too good to me.

ffmpeg contains support for several versions of Real Audio as well. In fact, it only lacks support for version 4 (ACELP.NET) and version 8 (ATRAC 3).

Adding Real Media support in the form of a QT plugin would be a godsend to mac user, many of whom loath having to install Real Player just to view rm files.

Now version 8 (ATRAC 3) is supported with this patch: http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.video.ffmpeg.devel/44526
