If I open system prefs and uninstall Perian, the videos will play with QT 7.2, but as soon as I reinstall Perian, the videos break again.
It plays fine when saved locally, but won't play when served directly from a webserver. Same behavior in Firefox. Since it does play fine locally, we don't think it's the uncompressed AVI problem that others have reported. Removing perian does allow it to play off the umich server, so there's something that Perian is breaking in Safari.
