mkv/h264 video stalls in 1.2 on Leopard

Description

Some mkv-packaged h264 videos are stalling - the video plays a couple seconds, gets all blocky, then stops, while the audio and subtitles continue.

This happens on Leopard (10.5.8), with QT 7.6.4, Perian 1.2. On Snow, QT 7.6.3, it plays fine. If I revert to Perian 1.1.4 on Leopard, it plays fine.

I usually resave mkv videos to QT mov so QT Player doesn't have to do the scan every time I open the video. On Leopard, if I save a video using Perian 1.1.4, then reinstall Perian 1.2, that plays fine. If I save the mov with Perian 1.2 on Leopard, it has the same stall when played with Perian 1.1.4, yet plays fine with Perian 1.2 on Snow. Saved with Perian 1.2 on Snow, stall on Leopard.

I can provide a link to a torrent download (full video), but I don't know to extract a few seconds to a smaller file.

We'll need a sample of the video. See "Submitting sample media":  http://ffmpeg.org/bugreports.html

I'm trying, but the trac server keeps dropping the connection during the upload.

I ftp'd it to my site no problem:  http://www.kyngchaos.com/files/media/playback_stalls.mkv (4.8MiB file)

Is anyone working on this?

I just tried the new version 1.2.1 and the problem is still present.

I didn't see this before - it works for me with 1.2.1/SnowLeopard. I don't have any systems that I could run 1.2/Leopard on that are fast enough to play this so reproducing may be difficult.

Does it stall when the first subtitle appears, or earlier?

It stalls on this one before the subtitles, barely 2 seconds into it. Looking at a couple other recent ones I haven't trashed yet, they also stall just a couple seconds in (one even starts with subtitles).
