Description
When both EyeTV MPEG and Perian are installed, it will sometimes override our video decompressor.
It's also libavcodec-based, but slightly slower and using an older version.
Unfortunately, QuickTime seems to choose components at random...

I got someone to send a link to Perian 0.5 to the guy responsible for the EyeTV component, but haven't heard of any updates on it.
It would be really nice if we could get any kind of information on component prioritizing in QT.

For me, Perian messes up EyeTV. In fullscreen mode i get a horizontal line in the upper part of the screen. As if the picture was cut an them moved a few pixels. I really like Perian, but until this is solved, I will have to uninstall it.

For me, Perian 1.0 causes EyeTV.app to crash immediately upon launch. Removing Perian made EyeTV work again.

EyeTV 3.1.2 now let Perian do the decoding if it is available on the machine.
In the release note of EyeTV 3.1.2:
The EyeTV MPEG Support Component has been updated to fix an incompatibility with Perian and other MPEG-4 decoders that resulted in the first frame always being green.
