Conflict with EyeTV MPEG Support

Reported by: astrange Assigned to:

Component: Perian-Main Version:
Severity: minor Keywords:

Description

When both EyeTV MPEG and Perian are installed, it will sometimes override our video decompressor.

It's also libavcodec-based, but slightly slower and using an older version.

Unfortunately, QuickTime seems to choose components at random...

Any updates on this one?

I got someone to send a link to Perian 0.5 to the guy responsible for the EyeTV component, but haven't heard of any updates on it.

It would be really nice if we could get any kind of information on component prioritizing in QT.

Until we get something, setting to needs feedback.

For me, Perian messes up EyeTV. In fullscreen mode i get a horizontal line in the upper part of the screen. As if the picture was cut an them moved a few pixels. I really like Perian, but until this is solved, I will have to uninstall it.

For me, Perian 1.0 causes EyeTV.app to crash immediately upon launch. Removing Perian made EyeTV work again.

That should be different from this ticket; could you post a crashlog on [207] and if you have DivX installed try uninstalling DivX?
